My personal view is that while origin of life research (the attention field of ISSOL) is an integral part of astrobiology, it is also a specialized (chemical/biochemical) subject which requires specialized communication channels. Therefore a practical question for me is the extent to which the suggested broad context of an inclusive conference could adequately address the need for ISSOL to hold its own conferences. Perhaps if federation meetings were to devote adequate time to ISSOL research topics each year, then the current triennial meeting of ISSOL could be replaced, but such details would remain to be determined.
