Scope and Objectives

The triennial International meeting of ISSOL is the most important meeting for the up-to date scientific exchange of information in the field of chemical evolution and the origin, evolution and distribution of life in the Universe. The purpose of this meeting is to bring scientists for all over the world and to examine the latest progress in the field.
  

Venue

The meeting will be held at the Hotel Victoria in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico (Lomas del Fortin No. 1, Oaxaca, 68070 Mexico, phone: +951-95152633 www.hotelvictoriaoax.com.mx. The hotel is located approximately 40 minutes from Oaxaca’s airport. Transportation will be provided to those arriving on Sunday 30, 2002.
 

Accommodations

The Hotel Victoria (link is a 100 k printable form) will be the venue of the meeting. Rooms have been reserved for those attending the meeting. As noted below, other hotels, with different categories and prices, are available. Please note that all reservations should be made by contacting the agent: International Meeting Services (e-mail imeeting@infosel.net.mx, fax +5255/5536-7309, phone +5255/5536-8151 and +5255/5682-9800). The hotel reservation and pre-registration forms are included below. When making your hotel reservation, please do not send your credit card information via e-mail! Hotel reservation forms should be faxed to International Meeting Services (fax +5255/5536-7309). If you have any problem, please do not hesitate to contact us directly via e-mail.

During July, the city of Oaxaca becomes an exciting place, with a full cultural agenda and many visitors. Consequently be warned! Hotel rooms can be scarce during this time, and it is very important to book-in as soon as possible. No room can be guaranteed after the registration deadline of May 30, 2002.

All these hotels are located near the venue or at downtown. Visa and entry requirements

All foreign visitors will require a valid passport to enter the country. A Mexican visa is not required in most cases, but please check with the Mexican Embassy or consulate in your country for further information on a tourist visa. If the Mexican representatives ask for an official letter of

invitation, please contact us immediately (E-mail: issol@nuclecu.unam.mx) and we will be happy to assist you.

Abstracts

The deadline for abstract submission is set on March 30th, 2002. Because of the current problems encountered by air mail, electronic submission is required. Abstracts should be sent to issol@nuclecu.unam.mx. Please contact us if you cannot fulfill this requirement.

Abstracts should have a maximum of 300 words. Please use a word processor (Word, WordPerfect), with a 12 points new times roman font. Within margins of 2.5 cm, the abstract should include the title of your work in capital letters, the name(s) of the author(s), starting with your given name, and the name and address of your institution. Abstracts should be submitted to our official e-mail address (issol@nuclecu.unam.mx).

The accepted abstracts will be published in an Abstract Book, which will be available upon arrival at the meeting. 

Registration

All interested persons should fill out the preliminary notice of attendance included here, and return it to the official e-mail address as soon as possible, preferably before March 15th.

Children under 12 years will not pay registration fee.
  

The registration fee includes the conference attendance, the mixing welcome party and Monday July 1st reception, the abstract book, the banquet, and coffee/tea breaks. If you register before April 30, 2002, a place for Wednesday excursion to the archeological site "Monte Alban" is guaranteed without extra charge. On site reservations for the Monte Alban excursion will be subjected to availability, and will be charged with 25 US dollar per person.
  

Payments

Because of the tax reforms that are being implemented at the time being in Mexico, information on the registration fee will be available before March 1st, 2002. Please note that this delay does not include your hotel reservations!

In site registration in Mexican pesos will be at the rate exchange of the day. The current exchange rate is about 10 Mexican pesos per one American dollar.

Cancellations for the registration fee, if received by June 30, will receive a refund. There is not refund for cancellations after that time.

Hotel cancellation must be received on writing before May 30, 2002. After that date a charge of one night will be made. A confirmation will follow via fax or e-mail. No reservation will be processed without credit card data.
